IanIan left school at 16, working as an apprentice with a local firm of bookbinders and through day release, completed the City & Guilds in hand bookbinding in 1981. He spent the next nine years working at the Austin Rover car plant, as a Trainee Instructor unti 1989, returning to bookbinding in 1989 -1994 working for an Oxford based bindery. Temple Bookbinders evolved over the years until l 2009 where we relocated to the purpose built hand bookbindery at 12 Stephen Road, Headington, Oxford. In 2011 his interest in rare children’s books and modern first edition developed into Temple Rare Books; a bookshop housed within the same premises. |

PaulinePauline trained as a RGN, then completed ENB 219 orthopaedic nursing and finally as a children’s nurse, graduating from Oxford Brookes (BA) in 1999. Pauline left the NHS after 25 years, in 2008 to establish the hand bookbindery with Ian. Pauline and Ian were married in 1986 and have three children, now young people. She supports the bindery and bookshop with front of house and administration. |

MichaelMichael completed his apprenticeship as a gold finisher in 1972. After his apprenticeship he left for 2 years, returning in 1974. He joined the team here as a gold finisher in 2010. |

MarkMark served his apprenticeship as a forwarder and hand bookbinder at Kemp Hall Bindery from 1979. Mark then worked for local hand book binderies, he then had a 10 year career break, joining the team here in 2010. |

SusannahSusannah graduated with a BA in Classics & Modern Languages. She graduated from Camberwell College in 1995 with a 2:1 in Paper Conservation. Susannah has since worked as a Book and Paper Conservator at the College of Arms and at Masters Bookbinders in Reading. With 9 years of living in Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan in between. |
