Books

In addition to the production of new bindings, we also offer a service for the conservation and restoration of bindings, using traditional skills and hand craftsmanship.

Bindings that have protected books for hundreds of years are empathetically and skilfully restored, using only archival sound materials. Calf or goat skin leathers are used in this process, which again, will protect your book for many years to come.

We conserve as much as possible of the original book, its boards, spine and end papers, leather corners can be repaired and hand sewn headbands can be replaced. We can also recreate the tooling and finishing, with an extensive range of hand tools and rolls to choose from. Alternatively a new tool can be manufactured to your requirements.
